Another impressive win by Shaville at Cranbourne on Sunday.  He was ridden confidently by Chris Symons coming from well back in the field and storming down the outside to win comfortably.  It was a Country Showcase race and with the $7000 Super Vobis Owners bonus the race was worth $28,500.  Shaville is racing in fine form and with some luck he can string more wins together.

You can see from the calendar above that we have a busy few days ahead.

Happy Punting.

31st December

I have had a couple of phone calls asking why I had not updated this page with the "I Told You So" line regarding the winners from mid December (Refer to update on 14th Nov).  It is because I expect more winners to come.

Congratulations to the owners of Shaville who won impressively at Kyneton on the 18th December.  He was the favourite and won as a favourite should.  Those that followed my advice would have also backed Salute The Storm at Moonee Valley last Saturday night.  She led all the way and won - paying $29.  I did have a couple of owners ring to thank me for their collect.  Well Done.

Mosseltov was very unlucky at Sale and Just Like El kicked off her campaign in a 1100m race last week.  She will be better suited over more ground.

I hope you all had a good Christmas.  It was very exciting in my house with a 3yo and 2yo very wound up about Santa Clause.  We had a great Christmas day and Boxing Day was full of drama also.  My oldest son Harry found a small battery (like one from a watch) and where else would you put your new found shiny battery but up your nose.  Yes it got stuck and after two days of doctors and hospitals the battery was removed under general anaesthetic.  It was a great way to fill in boxing day and a Saturday.  NB.  He is fine.

Good Luck and Happy New Year to all.

VALE VALARIE PRICE   5.12.1949 – 14.12.2008

At Hancox Bloodstock we are deeply saddened by the sudden death of one of our longest standing clients and best friends in racing -  Miss Valarie Price.

Twin sisters Valarie and Helen have been involved in almost 200 horses in the last twenty years and traveled all over New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland to cheer on their steeds.

Valarie has been of enormous assistance to us in looking after clients on race days in NSW, her cheerful demeanour, all round racing knowledge and wonderful attitude to her horses and their performances made her a role model for every owner.

Val was one of those rare people who never had a bad word to say about anyone – not even a jockey who had just barbecued what should have been a certain winner. She managed to smile and be polite and courteous to all and sundry even people who must have really tested her patience.

Valarie and Helen Price have been Hancox Bloodstock clients since the inception of the business in 1989 and were members of some of Classic bloodstock Syndicates prior to that time. The first city winners I can remember her being in were Calcutta Key at Sandown in 1990 and Falkor the same year.

Also in the 1990's they enjoyed success in Sydney with Busy Time, Regulations, Prodigious and It's Our Time; in recent years they have had a lot of fun with  multiple city winner PRIMA NOCTE and the bonny mare BELONG TO MANY (Gr.2 AJC Sapphire Stakes, L. MRC Le Tan Stakes.).

We are really going to miss the smiling, happy face of Val Price – she and Helen have been a massive assistance to us in looking after our NSW based clients.

Our deepest sympathy to Helen and the family

11th December

Salute The Storm heads to Moonee Valley on Friday night and we have landed in the last race at 10.15pm.  She has never won first up before and may need some more ground but she is fit and might run a nice race fresh.  We have Shaville, Mosseltov, Volkston and Just Like El are all due to return to the races in the next week or so.  Carnivale and a 2yo Testa Rossa filly are scheduled for jumpouts and Regal Dawn, Carnegies Gift and Jet Kingdom are not far behind.

In NSW we have Effronte ready to race and Hancox Racing No 3 wil have their first horse trial, Choice Of Many, at Rosehill on the 22nd December.

With these horses and Rigotune, Novelist, Paris Icon, Hula Dane and Thwarted all scheduled to race early in the new year we will be very busy over the coming months.

I should also wish Greg Eurell luck with Apache Cat who races in Hong Kong on the weekend.  Apache is a superstar and I am sure he will run very well.  As a matter of fact I think he willl win.

Good Luck and Happy Punting

26th November

Runners are scarce at the moment.  Rough Night is our only runner this week.  He is kicking off his campaign for new trainer, Ciaron Maher.  It will be interesting to see how he performs first up over the 1600m.  We should have some more action in a couple of weeks - we have 5 ready for jumpouts next week.

Happy punting.

14th November

Apologies for the lack of updates.  I (Rod) had a couple of weeks off and with the Spring Carnival and our raceday function at Geelong it has taken me forever to get on top of the work.  Actually I am never on top of it.

We have not had a great deal of racetrack action of late, as you can see from the calendar above.  We have Kings Love flying the flag for the team at Geelong on Sunday.

For those that follow our team of horses start saving as we will have a multitude of runners from mid December and we will win races everywhere -   Mark my words.  Nb. I will be refering you back to this update in a couple of months time.

We held our annual raceday function at Geelong last Saturday and around 400 shareholders and guests enjoyed the day.  There was plenty of food and drink and the boys running the punters club did get the quaddie in both Melbourne and Geelong - unfortunately they both paid a little light.  We paraded the five horses from Hancox Racing No 3 which created plenty of interest.  They all looked fantastic and paraded very well.  The experience of a day at the races in front of a crowd will also be of benefit.  Nb.  we have sold over 760 of the 800 shares.  If you are interested BE QUICK.

Happy Punting

13th October

What a fantastic win by Belong To Many in the Listed Le Tan Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday (See photo above).  She has been a super mare for the shareholders in Hancox Racing No 1 having won 6 races and close to $300,000.  She is a Group 2 and LIsted race winner and is now a valuable broodmare prospect.  We will of course enjoy racing her through until the Autumn next year.

The big win on Saturday turned our annual raceday at Hawkesbury into a celebration.  The most popular guest on the day was the Trophy won by Belong To Many.  The trophy was busy posing for photos all day.  It was a most enjoyable day with 180 guests enjoying the racing and atmosphere at Hawkesbury.  There was plenty of food and drink and a live band added to the day.  We are now looking forward to the raceday function at Geelong on Saturday 8th November.

Note.  I have sold just over 700 of the 800 shares in Hancox Racing No 3 Limited. They are a nice bunch of horses and with some luck we may find another Belong To Many amongst them. Click Here For Details

1st October

Well what a let down the Cats were on Saturday.  Just couldn't kick goals and went down to the Hawks.  The whole of Geelong has been a little flat ever since.  DISAPPOINTING!!!

After my comments last week I did notice a horse called A Little Smugg was running at Kyneton yesterday.  Like Geelong she couldn't win but did run a place.

Our attention now fully turns to the Spring Carnival.  The Turnball Stakes looks to be a cracker on Saturday.

We are looking forward to Skeena making her debut at Warrnambool on Friday and Huribel heading back to Geelong next Tuesday.  She ran a terrific race first up and should be competitive again against her own age group.

We also have Belong To Many returning to Melbourne to race in the Listed Le Tan Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday 11th October.

Our Hawkesbury Raceday function will be held on Sunday 11th - hopefully we are celebrating another BTM win.  Syndicate members should return their RSVP's so that I can mail out the tickets.

Happy Punting.

26th September

Great run by Belong To Many in the LIsted Starlight Stakes last Saturday at Rosehill.  AS always she ran a very honest race and finished 2nd.  She will now head to Melbourne for the Spring.

I forgot to mention the other big winner last week  -  Geelong won yet again.  This time a preliminary final against the Bulldogs.  We are now in the Grand Final.  Having won 42 of our last 44 games the Cats supporters are confident of a win. That may sound a little smug but as one of our owners just said with their recent record Geelong fans are entitled to be smug.    Should be a great game.  I will be at the game and (if we win) celebrating on the weekend so please go easy on me on Monday.

19th September

A couple of nice winners over the past week in Novelist and Scenic Affair.  Huribel makes her debut today at Geelong.  It is a tough assignment for her today up against the older horses.  She is also against the males.

We also have Belong To Many returning to the races at Rosehill tomorrow in the Listed Starlight Stakes.  She is also against the boys in a tough race.  I think she will acquit herself well.

Happy Punting.

10th September

We are a little quiet on the horse racing front at the moment.  The horses that were winning during June and July are now in the paddock.  A lot of our team is enjoying the early Spring sunshine and fresh grass while out spelling.   We will no doubt be very busy in a couple of months time when they are all back in work and ready to return to the races.

The regular winner that we have had is the Geelong Football club who go from strength to strength.  Winners of 22 of their 23 games for the year. We have this weekend off before a Preliminary final the following week.  GO CATS.

4th September

There has not been a great deal to report of late.  We have had a quiet couple of weeks as far as runners go.  Devon Edge ran another nice race for 2nd at Geelong on Tuesday.  This was a transferred Kyneton meeting and she probably would have preferred to run on the heavy track at Kyneton.  The transfer also meant a change in distance up to 1550m from 1450m which may have cost her the race.  She is knocking on the door of a win.

Paris Icon is trying for 2 wins in a row tomorrow at Geelong.  He is in good order and I expect him to run well for his 800 owners in Hancox Racing No 2.

We also have our Peruggia looking for her Maiden win at Stawell on Saturday.  She has had 3 starts for 3 places and we hope she can crack it for a win on Saturday.

We have some nice horses coming through that should start racing in the coming months and our stable star Belong To Many (Group 2 winner) should resume at Rosehill on the 20th September.

Spring is in the air and the good horses are filtering through on race day. It is exciting times looking towards the Spring Carnival.  Happy Punting.

HANCOX RACEDAYS

We have raceday functions coming up in both NSW and VIC.

NSW - at Hawkesbury on Sunday 12 October

VIC - at Geelong on Saturday 8th November

Invites will be sent out with newsletters in the next couple of weeks.  Keep in touch.

13th August

Great win by Paris Icon at Geelong last Friday.  Hancox Racing No 2 owners are busy at the moment with three horses racing and a fourth, Cash Tin, about to hit the track.  They are having their share of success with Hula Dane and Paris Icon both saluting in the past few weeks.

Hula Dane will try to add to his recent win tomorrow when he runs at Hawkesbury.  We also have a couple of runners at Sale.  Hopefully winners in two states???  Happy Punting.

23rd July

Great win Hula Dane today.  He is a part of our Hancox Racing No 2 package.  I think the hint yesterday was pretty strong " Hula Dane is knocking on the door of a win"

He was a little short but he did not give the favourite backers a moments worry as he cruised past his opposition in the straight to win by 2.5 lengths.  He is a nice stayer in the making.

The biggest winner of course is the raceday photographers who will sell many winning prints as there are 800 shares in this package.

Unfortunately our other runners for today were scratched as they both came down with a rash on their wither.  It was most disappointing as they were two of the main chances in the Silver Bowl final.  They live to fight another day.

Plenty of runners coming up - keep an eye on the calendar.

22nd July

Winners everywhere and I have not had time to update the site.  Shelley has been away and I (Rod) have been kept extremely busy trying to keep up.

Mosseltov won his 2nd race last week at Kyneton.  THere were some queries on him handling the very heavy track but he ploughed through it and won the heat of the Silver Bowl series by 3 lengths.  Our other runner Shaville finished a clear 2nd after being held up early in the straight.  They are both heading to the final at Bendigo tomorrow.

We had three runners at Caulfield on Saturday.  Wavelength, Jet Kingdom and Just Like El all ran well but did not have much luck.

The shareholders in Hancox Racing No 2 look like having a busy month.  Many employers may be asking why their horse owning staff are taking so many days off work.  They have 4 horses all racing or about to hit the track.  Hula Dane is knocking on the door of a win.  Paris Icon didn't handle the heavy track first up and will race again in around 10 days, Black Cougar is running at Moruya on Sunday and Cash Tin should trial next week.  Hopefully we can win some races with this lot.

Hancox Racing No 1 has their Group 2 winner, Belong To Many back in work. She should return to the races in mid September.

I am still selling shares in Hancox Racing No 3.  I have sold around 550 of the 800 shares.  They are a very nice bunch of horses, in top stables in three states. $950 no more to pay (2x $475 payments available) If you would like a prospectus you can download one HERE or give me a call (03) 5274 9171

RECENT WINNERS

15th July  - Mosseltov at Kyneton   WINNER

5th July -  Just LIke El at Flemington   WINNER

27th June  - Mosseltov at Geelong   WINNER

25th June  - Just Like El at Sandown   WINNER

15th June - Shaville at Ballarat   WINNER

15th June - Salute The Storm at Ballarat   WINNER

9th July

Congratulations to the owners of Just LIke El who made it 2 wins in a row with a very impressive win at Flemington on Saturday.  She came from the tail of the field with a well timed run to win by around half a length.  A Saturday race at Flemington is worth $75,000 and if you add the $23,000 Super Vobis bonus it is close to a $100,000 race.  She is a lovely filly and obviously has her share of ability.  There should be more wins in store.

Keep an eye on the calendar as we have several runners over the next week.  Hopefully another winner or two.

We have sold over 500 shares in Hancox Racing No 3 with minimal advertising.  If you are interested or know anyone interested in racing a team of 5 horses for a minimal outlay please contact our office or download a prospectus.

27th June

Another couple of winners during the week.  Just LIke El was most impressive in winning at Sandown on Wednesday.  She proved far too strong for her opposition winning by 3.5 lengths.  She could quite easily have won a couple more races by now if it wasnt for some bad luck.

Mosseltov continued our good run today by winning his Maiden at Geelong.  There is not a lot of Mosseltov but what their is of him is all heart.  He hit the line very hard to nose out his opposition and win in a three way photo.  He has now had 2 runs for a win and a 3rd.

I hope that the winners can continue next week.  We have some good chances.  Follow the calendar.

NON RACING NEWS

One of our regular jockeys will be playing a cameo role in the comedy "Mark Loves Sharon" next Monday 9.30pm on Channel 10.  Chris Symons will be wearing our silks on the show when he encounters the infamous sporting legend "Mark" at the races.  I think Chris may have acting aspirations.  If you get the chance you had better tune in.

Nb. Chris has ridden both our winners this week.

16th June

Well I hate to say I told you so but I did say that the winners would flow.  We had a double at Ballarat on Sunday.  I was actually watching the Cats beat Port Adelaide on Sunday so that was three winners for the day.

Salute The Storm did a great job on the heavy track to lead all the way and win her 4th race.  She has been a very consistent mare having also ran 11 minor placings from her 23 starts.

Shaville also showed that he has lifted a notch in winning his Maiden at Ballarat.  He took a sit behind the short priced favourite and ran him down up the straight.  It was an impressive first up run.

The third winner was the Geelong Football Club who just continue on their merry way having won 11 of 12.

I think the winners should continue to flow with some good chances over the coming weeks. Keep following the calendar.  Happy Punting.

10th June

We could not crack it for a win over the long weekend.  We had two seconds and a third (looked like a 2nd and I would like to see the photo finish).  Jet Kingdom ran a good 2nd at Moonee Valley yesterday.  He just ran into a very smart horse of Lloyd Williams/John Sadler.  Just LIke El was an unlucky 2nd also at Moonee Valley yesterday.  She was just held up at a crucial time before storming home to finish 2nd.

Skilful time ran another good race, this time at the Sapphire Coast, to finish a close up third.  He was called 2nd and everyone on course except the officials thought he finished 2nd.  He has now placed in 6 of his 8 starts but cannot break his Maiden status.

Follow the calendar - the winners are sure to flow soon.

4th June

We have a very busy long weekend coming up with 7 runners over the 3 days.  Greg Eurell has Salute The Storm running at Flemington on Saturday. She has had an enforced freshen up ( hoof abscess) and is in terrific order.  A winning cheque from Flemington on a Saturday ($75,000 races) would be nice.

Barb Joseph trains our two runners on the Sapphire coast on Sunday.  Skilful Time and Yinyang should both acquit themselves well and Greg Eurell will sadlle up Volkston at Pakenham.  He has been a most unlucky horse and we are hoping to draw a decent barrier on Sunday.

On the Queens Birthday holiday we have three runners, all trained by Greg Eurell resuming at Moonee Valley. One of our old favourites, Wavelength, resumes over 1200m. She has not had much luck at Moonee Valley in the past and this is short of her best distance but she is an honest mare who will give a good account of herself.  Jet Kingdom also resumes.  He is a promising 2yo who won his only start.  The handicapper was a little harsh with his rating/weight and we have claimed with W Hernan.  Our third runner is the 3yo filly Just LIke El.  She is also first up and should run well fresh.

Surely we will have a winner or two amongst this lot.  HAPPY PUNTING.

9th May

A good day at the races for Hancox horses today with Yinyang winning his Maiden at Canberra.  Today was his first start on the grass - his previous 4 starts were on the Acton track at Canberra.

Kings Canyon returned to the winners stall at Cranbourne today.  It was his second win and on that effort there is more in store.

Good luck to the shareholders in Hancox Racing No 1 who have Belong To Many running at Hawkesbury in the $100,000 Woodlands Crown.  Hopefully she can back up from her Group 2 win last week.

Happy Punting

6th May, 2008

I am a bit slow with the news here.  Must have been celebrating the great win of Belong To Many (BTM) for too long.  She ran a super race and was ridden superbly by James Winks to lead all the way and win the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at Randwick on AJC Oaks day last Wednesday.  It certainly brought a smile to many owners faces.  Belong To Many is part of the Hancox Racing No 1 package.  She has now won 5 races and over $200,000. On top of this she is now worth a substantial amount of money as a broodmare when her racing career is over.

For an initial outlay of $890 the shareholder in Hancox Racing No 1 are delighted with how much fun they are having.  They have had some real lessons in the vagaries of racing and are certainly on a big high at the moment.  We try to explain to owners that they should invest in these big syndicates to have some fun and if they recieve a dividend cheque at the end of the day then it is a bonus.  BTM has certainly provided the fun and had also ensured a healthy cheque for shareholders when the syndicate is wound up.  I am sure we can win some more races before BTM's racing career is over.

Hancox Racing No 3 is selling now.  The next BTM may be amongst the five well bred horses going into this package.  Check them out here

29th April

Plenty of runners coming up and I wish all of the Hancox Racing No 1 shareholders luck tomorrow when Belong To Many contests the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.  We will have 1 or 2 runners at Warrnambool tomorrow.  Skilful Time heads to the Wagga Carnival on Friday, We have Hula Dane at Gosford on Sunday and runners most days next week.  Hopefully we can win some races during this time.

We have been busy buying horses at the Inglis Classic sale and I hope to have an update on our For Sale page shortly.

Happy Punting.

2nd April

Great win by Rough Night at Sandown today.  He has now won 9 races and over $100,000.  He is likely to contest one of the feature jumps races at Warrnambool during their May Carnival.  We have a couple of staying types kicking off their campaigns tomorrow and a few runners in NSW to look forward to in April.

27th March

We had another very impressive winner in Wavelength on Easter Monday at Caulfield.  That was her 6th win (including a Stakes win) in 19 starts and hse has now earnt around $280,000.  Not a bad effort for a $6000 yearling.  She will have a short let up now and should then race right through the winter.

Our next runner is another "value for money" mare, Prima Nocte.  She is running in the $71,000 Leilani Classic at Caulfield on Saturday.  She is in the Grand Old Campaigner class now and has won 8 races and just over $260,000.  We hope she can add to that tally on Saturday.

Follow the calendar for all our runners.

14th March

What a great win by Belong To Many at Moonee Valley on Monday.  It was a public holiday in Victoria enabling a lot of her owners to attend on the day.  Around 50 owners there to cheer her on.  Craig Williams certainly rode her well, leading all the way, and he put on quite a show for all of the owners - kisses for the ladies and directed us all onto the track for a photo.

Paris Icon made his debut on Monday at Moe - yes I made it to both races.  He certainly looked the part but got a lot wrong during the race, having a good look around.  He did hit the line nicely to run sixth.  Unfortunately he has pulled up shinsore and will head to the paddock for a spell.

Rough Night has been entered everywhere and after a couple of hiccups he is scheduled to run at Flemington on Saturday.

We also have Lock It In running at Nowra today.

If you are interested in the Hussonet colt you had better be quick as we have had an enormous amount of interest in him.  I will have some of our other recent purchases up for sale shortly.

Happy Punting.

7th March

We have had a very busy week at the Inglis Premier sales buying 12 yearlings.  Five will go into our next Hancox Racing Package -

          Choisir - My Saviour colt

          Hussonet - Smilingly filly

          Falbrav - Bella Maddelena colt

Testa Rossa - Cloud Dance colt

          Commands - Double Copy colt

The first horse to be syndicated will be the Hussonet (USA) - Excellent Song (Ire) colt to be trained by Greg Eurell at Cranbourne.  Photo below - Looking like that he must be able to run - $3100 per 10% share and $260 per month.  5% shares available at $1550 and $130

Email if you are interested.  Paperwork available next week.

28th February

We have decided to put together another package of horses - Hancox Racing No 3.  It will be a similar set up to the previous packages ie. race 5 horses for three years for a one off payment of $890.  Figures etc. to be confirmed.

We will be purchasing the horses over the next few weeks.  You can email me to register your interest and I will send out a prospectus when they are available.  info@hancox.com.au

28th February

We seem to have run out of luck of late with a couple of ordinary rides on our horses and Belong To Many just got caught in the slow lane last Saturday.  The members of Hancox Racing No 1 who attended did enjoy the day regardless.  There was 50-60 shareholders there who enjoyed a great days racing.  We saw a couple of stars win on the day in Weekend Hussler and Light Fantastic.

We have Wavelength and Prima Nocte running in Black Type races over the next couple of weeks.  A win or a place will increase their value for their life after racing as a broodmare.  Although Wavelength is already a Listed Race winner.

We also have a couple of horses making their debut in the coming weeks.  Lock It In at Queanbeyan tomorrow and Pais Icon will make his long awaited debut for the members of Hancox Racing No 2 at Moe on Monday 10th March.  We also look forward to Salute The Storms return to the track at Sale next Tuesday.

Enjoy the "Festival of Racing" in Victoria before our attention will move to the Easter Carnival in NSW.

Happy Punting.

11th February

Rough Night won his Maiden hurdle at Moe today - for those that follow the calendar I apologies for the lack of notice, it was a last minute decision to run.

He has now won 8 races and is close to $100,000 in prizemoney.  He has certailnly been a lot of fun for his owners.

Belong To Many ran another super race, this time at Moonee Valley on Friday night.  She gave the leader 3 lengths start at the top of the straight and got to within a head on the line but just came up short.  That is the 3rd time she has been photoed out of a city race.  She has obviously come back in good form and will run again in a couple of weeks.

We have a couple of runners at Moonee Valley on Saturday. We look forward to Wavelength running in the Grooup 2 Sunline Stakes and Prima Nocte will step out in a 1200m fillies and Mares race on the same program.

6th February

We have a big day on Friday with 4 runners for the day at 3 meetings.  There are many (800 shareholders) excited to see Belong To Many return to the track.  She has made her way to Melbourne for the time being as quarantine restrictions still apply to move between zones in NSW making it difficult to race a horse in the metro area of NSW if you are based in a "white zone" (EI Free)

Just as many owners will be cheering on Black Cougar at Canberra on Friday.  He is coming off a win at his last start.

We also have Rigotune and Catwalk Island looking for another win.  Hopefully our late January form can run into February.

29th January

Another winner over the Australia Day weekend.  Scenic Affair finally broke his Maiden at his 15th start.  He has ran in the first 5 at 12 of his 15 runs and has been extremely unlucky in many races.  He deserved the win as did his patient owners.

That makes it 5 winners inside of two weeks.  Lets hope the run continues.

Prima Nocte, who is almost in the "Grand Old Campaigner" class returned to the races after a good break for a nice 3rd in the Latrobe City Sprint at Moe on Sunday.  She has won 8 races and we are hoping to add some more this campaign.

24th January

We are on a bit of a roll.  Jet Kingdom won on debut at Sale today.  He showed good early pace to share the lead.  He was strong in the run to the line holding off all challenges.  That is 4 winners from our last 5 runners.   We have 5 runners over the long weekend - hopefully some more winners.  Happy Punting

21st January

Another winner - 3 in a week.  Black Cougar ran a much improved race to win his Maiden at Moruya today.  He settled behind the pace and stuck to his guns bravely in the straight to just hold out the late swooper.  We were hoping that he would run on nicely and he exceeded our expectations to win the race by a nose - actually just a lip.  He is part of Hancox Racing No 2 and he has made the 800 shareholder very happy.  He has also made the raceday photographer happy as he will sell many prints of this win.

The new on the third of January was on the money "I am sure the winners will start to roll out"

21st January

After a frustrating run of placings we had a couple of winners last week.  Rigotune won his second race.  A class 1 at Echuca on Tuesday.  It was a nice confidence booster after some near misses in town.

Rough Night also returned to the winners list with his 7th win.  This time in a 2200m race at Bairnsdale.   He took a few runs to get back to his preferred distances and we hope that he can now hold his form. 12 months ago he hit form and won 4 races straight. There are plenty of nice staying races around for him over the coming months.

Just Like El has been running very well in town without much luck of late.  She will head back to Moonee Valley on Friday night.  We are also looking forward to the return of Prima Nocte to the track.  She is scheduled to start at Moe on the 27th.

We have an excited bunch of owners in the 20 share syndicate who race Jet Kingdom.  He will make his debut in a 1100m 2yo Maiden at Sale on Thursday.

I hope the winners continue to flow.

Keep an eye on the calendar -  Happy punting.

3rd January

Plenty of runners to kick off the new year.  I am sure the winners will start to roll out.  Nb. Several horses in the calendar have been entered in two races.  We will work out the most suitable option when we see the entries/acceptances.

I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year festivities and we can now look forward to backing winners in 2008.

27th December

A big day of racing yesterday with seven runners at three tracks in Victoria.  We had some terrific runs but unfortunately we couldn't crack it for a win.  We had two seconds, two thirds and a fourth.

The placegetters

Just LIke El ran another cracking race at Caulfield.  She settled well back in the field and made a sweeping run around the turn and into the straight but couldnt catch the leader and went down narrowly.

Rumble King made his debut and led until the shadows of the post to miss the main prize by a nose.  It was a very good effort at his first start and he will only improve.

Shaville ran at Geelong (again) and put in another brave run but is probably looking for more ground.  He lacked a little zip ijn the straight but tried hard all the way up the straight to finish 3rd.

Catwalk Island also ran very well for her new trainer Wendy Kelly.  She made up plenty of ground in the straight to finish 3rd and was only beaten by .3 of a length.

I am sure these horses can all win races in the coming weeks.

21st December

We have had plenty of nice runs of late without any real joy.  Kings Canyon ran a very nice 3rd at Traralgon.  He dropped out and settld at the tail of the field, was still last at the 400m and worked home very well but had given them too much of a start.

Scenic Affiar ran a similar race at Moonee Valley to finish 4th.  He was also last and covered plenty of extra ground but came up just short finishing 4th.

Just Like El and Rigotune both put in eye catching runs at Caulfield on the 12th December for a 4th and 5th respectively.  Again no luck.  Rigotune copped a squeeze at the start and had a bumping duel for the first half of the straight before hiting the line as good as anything to be beaten by around 1.5 lengths and Just Like El just seemed to lack some experience after getting shuffled back on the rails.

Novelist was probably the victim of pilot error at Sandown on Wednesday.  She ran well but tired after making a long run from the 650m mark.

I am pretty sure that our luck will change on Boxing Day.  We have 7 runners at three venues in Victoria.  With an ounce of luck will should be able to win a race or two for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to everyone and lets hope that 2008 brings many winners.

3rd December

We have had a couple of winners and some near misses of late.  Novelist impressively won her Maiden race at Mornington on the 17th November.  She came from the tail of the field on the turn to quickly round up the opposition and win by a couple of lengths.

Du Martray ran a solid 4th on debut at Kilmore during the month and Just Like El has returned in good form finishing 3rd at Seymour and then running a very nice 2nd against the boys at Sandown last Friday.

There is plenty of action coming up with wall to wall racing over the Christmas period.  We have a few horses knocking on the door of a win and some of the old guard about to return to the track in Prima Nocte, Rough Night, Wavelength and Belong To Many.  Keep in touch.

14th November

We have had plenty of action over the last couple of weeks with 7 placegetters from 11 runners but we havent been able to crack it for a win.  Salute The Storm was unlucky not to win at Moonee Valley on the 2nd Nov.  Pilot error the cause of her downfall but she ran well to finish a close up 2nd.

Novelist ran a very nice race first up for third and should win a race shortly.  Skilful Time again put in a solid run for 3rd.  He has now placed in all three of his runs but is yet to crack it for a win.

We also had Distant Drums run a much improved race for 4th at Stony Creek last Friday.  He was just nodded out of third on the line.  He is part of the Hancox Racing No 2 package.

We had five runners on our owners day at Geelong last Saturday for three minor placings. Scenic Affair 3rd, Shaville 2nd and Rigotune 2nd.   We had around 340 guests attend.  It was a terrific day with perfect weather and plenty of food and drink but I must say it was a very tough day for punters.  The quaddie in Melbourne paid $1.2 million which probably explains how tough it was to find a winner.  Even the quaddie at Geelong paid over $40,000.  The boys who ran the punters club battled bravely all day and after a good winner in the 2nd last race in Melbourne had clawed their way back to within sight of the initial pool.  After consulting the remaining crowd they decided to roll the dice and punt it all on Kings Canyon in the last race. Unfortunatley he got very fizzed up on his way to the barriers and had run his race before the gates opened.  The "No Dividend" sign was posted but we at least had a good run for our money.

Our most recent runner was the promising 3yo filly Just Like El at Seymour yesterday.  She was forced to race against the older mares as their was no suitable 3yo race for her.  She ran a very credible 3rd.

With so many horses racing well I am sure that the winners will start flowing over the coming weeks. Happy Punting.

1st November

Salute The Storm is shooting for 3 in a row at Moonee Valley on Friday night.  She is a very consistent mare and is right on top of her game at the moment.

Our raceday function is on track with around 330 acceptors thus far.  Tickets are being sent out this week.  If you would like to come please let me know ASAP.  Shareholders in our horses are free and guests are $30.

We look like having 3 runners on the day.  Hopefully we can find a winner amongst them.

We will have our first 2yo runner at Cranbourne on Sunday 11th.  Esprit De Mer - by Bel Esprit willl make his debut.

The Spring Carnival is well under way.  I hope that you have been backing winners.  The biggest week of all starts at Flemington this week - good luck in your sweeps or backing the winner of the Melbourne Cup.  We have a couple of runners at Canberra on the day - last start winner Lady Snaadee and Skilful Time who is knocking on the door of a win.

24th October

Apologies for the lack of updates - I (Rod) have been on holidays for a couple of weeks.  I did get home in time to watch Salute The Storm win her 3rd race and second on the trot at Kyneton yesterday.  She led all the way and won by a couple of lengths.  She seems to be thriving at the moment and could not have looked any better in the yard yesterday.  She has been a very consistent mare having now placed in 11 of her 15 starts and she probably had genuine excuses in a couple of others.

We also had Lady Snaadee win on debut at Canberra last Saturday.  She is a tough little horse and I am sure that her owners will have some fun with her.

We had three runners yesterday and six horses had jumpouts so we should have plenty of action over the next month or so.  Horses close to racing are King's Canyon, Scenic Affair, Du Martray, Esprit De Force, Shaville, Just Like El and Volkston.  We also have Indian Love Call, Rigotune, Carnegies Gift and Novelist all having jumpouts at Flemington on Friday.

Busy times ahead in Victoria but due to the EI outbreak we are fairly quiet in NSW.

Barb Joseph is flying the flag for us up there with the "in house" meetings being held at Canberra.

May the winners keep coming.  Happy Punting.

11th October

Congratulations to Storm P'nship on Salute the Storm's slashing win at Barinsdale om 9th October the way she won indicates more wins coming up.

Distant Drums is running at Werrbee on saturday 13th October and after a promising debut second SKILFUL TIME may run again at  Canberra on saturday 20th October.

EQUINE INFLUENZA victims are CIVIL SERVANT and HULA DANE who will both be headin to th spelling paddock when allowed ot of Rosehill in November.

There will be an update with entries on monday 15th October

21st September

We seem to be having horses run very well without winning of late.  Salute The Storm and Yamaman both ran 2nd last week and Yinyang just ran an unlucky third.  The next winner must be around the corner.

We have horses running in three states and a territory (ACT) over the next few days. Yinyang today in Canberra Fraar Venture tomorrow in a hurdle in Adelaide, Hula Dane is running at Rosehill tomorrow and Lady Loushe at Sale on Sunday.

Hancox Racing No 2 look like having some fun over the coming months.  They have 3 horses entered to race over the next three days and a fourth horse around 6 weeks off hitting the track.

Happy Punting!

31st August

The news is - EQUINE INFLUENZA.

NSW has shut down racing due to the outbreak of Equine Influenza.  If the authorities can contain it they could race in a couple of months.  If not it could take several more months.

Victoria commences racing on Saturday at Caulfield.  Hopefully with the restrictions in place we can keep EI out of the state and concentrate on the Spring Carnival.

We have several runners coming up including Prima Nocte at Caulfield on Saturday and Fraar Venture who will make his jumping debut at Bendigo on Monday.  We also have some nice young horses trialing next week.  Hopefully they trial OK and we can then find a race for them.

Nb.  the racing landscape is changing by the minute and racedays/horse plans are never set in concrete.

6th August

Great win by Belong To Many at Rosehill last week.  She certainly is a genuine mare.  She jumped well and led all the way, hanging on bravely to win narrowly.  As she has 800 owners she made a lot of punters happy on the day.

Scenic Affair ran another place on Sunday and just cannot crack it for a win.  He overraced on Sunday but still managed to work home well for third.  He is a frustrating horse and I am sure he has been costly for punters.

We have Paris End heading to town on Wednesday before she is sold later in the month.  Yinyang will make his long awaited  debut at Canberra later in the week and we have a couple of runners over the weekend.   Keep an eye on the calendar

1st August

Today is officially the horses Birthday.  All thoroughbreds are a year older today. I am sure that B'day parties are going on in stables around the country as I type.

What has been happening????

Rods whole family have had the obligatory cold/cough during the depths of winter.  This includes some croup for the baby (Louis)  We are all on the mend now.  He has also been stupid enough to be playing football and the team are in the top 5 on the ladder but have had a dreadful last month.  Looking forward to finals and then retirement (I have said it before but this time I am definitely serious)

On the football front we have been very happy with our AFL team Geelong.  They are on a winning streak not seen in Catland for decades.  Surely this is our year to win that elusive premiership.

On the horse front.  Prima Nocte returned to some form last Saturday at Moonee Valley. She narrowly went down finishing 3rd in the Travis Harrison Cup.

Wavelength has been forced to have nearly a month between runs with a lack of suitable options.  She will run again on the 11th August.

We have Belong To Many running this afternoon at Rosehill.  We hope she returns to her old form and must be a very good chance.  She is part of the 800 share Hancox Racing No 1 syndicate who are now down to 2 horses.  She has been the best of the team and we hope she continues to give her owners plenty of enjoyment.

We have a few starters later in the week and we look forward to Yinyang making his much awaited debut at Canberra on Friday 10th.  He has been a slow maturing horse and has tested his owners patience.  Hopefully they will now reap rewards.

Keep an eye on the calendar for Hancox Bloodstock's runners.

2nd July

Those of you that follow our team would have had a nice win on the promising 3yo filly Wavelength on Saturday.  She was most impressive in winning at Sandown by 5 lengths.  It was a VRC meeting and the race was therefore worth $75,000.  Add the Super Vobis bonus of $23,000 and it is very good prizemoney.  The owners are pleased now and I am sure they will get another warm and fuzzy feeling when they recieve the prizemoney cheques next month.

We held a raceday function at Hawkesbury on Saturday and had 230 owners and guests attend.  It was a fantastic day with plenty of food on offer and the bar was busy all day.  Many of the guests did get a few dollars out of Wavelengths win.  I will have some photos up later in the week.  We had a couple of Wavelengths owners (the two Norms) with us at Hawkesbury.  Norm Senior was that confident with 200m to go that he made his way to the bar.  He had ordered the champagne before she crossed the line.  Wavelengths photo below.

Plenty of runners coming up - as always.  Follow the calendar.  Good Luck.

22nd June

We have had a busy time trying to get horses a run of late.  The wet weather and subsequent abandoned meetings have made it very tough to get some horses into a race.

We have spread ourselves far and wide this weekend with three meto. runners in three states.  Rough Night will run in the Geoff Torney Cup at Moonee Valley on Saturday.  Prima Nocte heads to Randwick on Saturday after the abandoned meetings in Sydney the last couple of weeks and we are sending Catwalk Island to Adelaide in search of a decent track.  Hoping for a winner or three.

Next weekend is the day of our raceday function at Hawkesbury.  We should have just over 200 there on the day and a couple of runners.  We will also have Wavelength flying the flag for the hancox team at Sandown on the day.

Happy Punting.

12th June

Just Like El kicked off her racing career in fine fashion at Pakenham on Sunday.  She had a large contingent of owners on hand to cheer her to victory.  She handled the wet track nicely and after sitting wide around the turn she kicked clear in the straight going on to win by 3 lengths.

We have a busy week ahead with six runners including a couple in Sandown on Saturday.  Keep in touch.

7th June

Rough Night certainly kicked off his campaign nicely last Sunday.  His owners were delighted when he saluted in a $35,000 race at Mornington last Sunday.  They also had a few dollars on him and collected at $58 ($66 in NSW)  He was well over the odds.  He should have a very productive campaign.  Some of our other owners read this page and also backed him - dont give it all back to the TAB.

Kings Canyon continues to knock on the door of another win.  He ran 2nd at Ballarat (Metro meeting) yesterday.  A win is just around the corner.

We have plenty of runners next week and hopefully there are a couple of winners amongst them.  There are a couple of first starters amongst them and Novelist will have her 2nd run in a race after a nice 5th on debut.

Happy punting.

31st May

We will be spread across Victoria over the coming week with runners at Sandown, Mornington, Ballarat and Warrnambool.  We may send one to the Swan Hill Carnival just to top it off.

Saturday sees Wavelength return to the races.  She is first up after a her successful trips to Tasmania having won the Listed Strutt stakes and finishing 3rd in the Tassie Oaks.

Rough Night is also returning on the weekend.  He won 4 races straight last campaign.  We are hoping for the same again.

We have a couple of runners out west at Warrnambool and the consistent galloper, Kings Canyon, is looking for a slightly drier track than the quagmire he ran on at his last start.  He will run at Ballarat on Wednesday.

Happy Punting.

11th May

Kings Canyon ran very well again today for another 2nd.  He was beautifully ridden by Chris Symons sitting on the fence behind the leader all the way but couldn't quite run him down in the straight.  He is a very honest racehorse now having a record of 7 starts for 1-3-2.  Paris End also finished 2nd during the week.  It was first up over 1200m on a heavy track.  She ran extremely well considering her best distances are probably 2000m +.

Last start winner Desert Lad will run at Randwick tomorrow.  We all hope he can add to his four wins.  A win at Randwick on a Saturday would be fantastic for all connections.

That is all I have got time for as it is 6.00pm on Friday - I should be at home.

3rd May

Big day at Ballarat on Saturday with Hancox Racing No 2's first runner - Distant Drums.  King Tethra (HR 1) will also head there if he gains a run from 2nd emerg.

We also seem to have close to a full book next week including Civil Servant making his debut and last start winner Desert Lad heading to town.  Happy Punting.

20th April

A quiet week this week finishing with three trialers today.  We have a few runners next week and by the number of horses we have in work at the moment we will have a busy time through the winter.

I have a few shares left in Hancox Racing No 2 (sold 760 of 800) and the cut off date is the 30th April.  If anyone is interested in buying a share in 5 horses for a one off payment of $890 just download a prospectus from the Racing No 2 page link.  or Phone (03) 5274 9171  for information.

The five horses are all progressing well and 4 have trialed and we should have horses racing very soon.

11th April

Desert Lad resumed with a nice 2nd at Hawkesbury.  He was carrying a little condition and did a very good job for his first up run.

Close The Till was a most unlucky 4th at Moonee Valley on Thursday night.  She was climbing over the back of a wall of horses all the way up the straight but just had no luck and couldnt get a crack at them.  She is knocking on the door of a city win.  She will have a little freshen up.

2nd April

We have been a little quiet as far as runners go over the last week or so.

Close The Till did run a very good race for an unlucky 3rd at Moonee Valley on Saturday.  She came from the tail of the field and was only beaten by .5 length. She will back up on Thursday night.

Shasta County debuted at Yarra Valley on the 25th March.  He ran well in a race that was well short of his ideal distance.  We will step him up over the coming weeks.

We have a few 2yo's coming through including Run For Twenty who is trialing tomorrow and two Hancox Racing No 2 horses - Alpine Miss and Distant Drums who will trial shortly.

16th March

We have been very busy at yearlings sales of late having purchased 7 yearlings. I will have some info up on the website next week.

Our horses have been running well without winning.  Close The Till and Belong To Many are both knocking on the door of a win.  Salute The Storm ran a very nice third at Sandown a week ago and has headed to the paddock for a spell.

We have some nice youngsters coming through and trialing.  Hopefully they will head to the races in the coming weeks

There is plenty of good racing on at the moment.  I hope that you have been backing winners.  Happy Punting.

14th February

More happy owners or should I say happier owners.  Wavelengths owners were more than pleased with her two recent city wins but were over the moon with her win in the Listed Strutt Stakes at Hobart on Monday.  She proved to be far too strong for her rivals, cruising up to them around the turn and pulling away in the straight to win by 3 lengths.  Several owners made the trip to Tassie and had a most enjoyable day.  She will head back to Tassie for the Oaks on the 25th February.  Wavelength proves the point that one does not have to spend a lot of money on a yearling to have success.  She was a $6000 purchase at the 2005 Premier 2 sale.  She has quickly earned $150,000 and looks to have many more wins in store.

9th February

A couple more winners for the Hancox team this week.  The 800 shareholders in Hancox Racing No 1 were very happy with their appropriately named filly Belong To Many.  She won her 2nd race at Randwick on Wednesday.  She has now had 8 starts for 2-4-1.  She certainly is a very good trier.  There are more wins in store for her.

Salute the Storm impressively broke her Maiden at Mornington on Thursday.  After a very near miss at Geelong at her previous start she was far too good for her rivals yesterday.

31st January

I am not sure what has happened but our recent run of winners seems to have turned into near misses.  Our last 4 runners have all finished 2nd.  Belong To Many, Salute The Storm, Scenic Affair and Close The Till.  They are all knocking on the door of a win.

22nd January

A couple more winners to add to our recent success.  An out of town city double.  Sounds like a condradiction  -   Wavelength and Rough Night both won at Ballarat (VRC meeting) on Friday.  Wavelength is on her way to Tassie to contest the Strutt Stakes and the Tassie Oaks.  Rough Night has now won four straight - building the picket fence next to his name in the form guides.

Hopefully our runners later this week can continue our winning ways.  Follow the calender.

4th January

Hancox Bloodstock syndicated horses are winning everywhere at the moment.  Nine winners in the last 6 weeks -  Spread over two states and including city winners Prima Nocte at Randwick(now won 8 races and $250,000) and Wavelength at Caulfield (heading towards the Tassie Oaks)

Rough Night is building a nice little picket fence next to his name in form guides having won his last three races.  Desert Lad is doing the same having strung two together.

The punters that have been following our stable have certainly had a good Christmas and started off the New Year in fine fashion.

WINNERS ARE GRINNERS

Eight winners in just over a month.  See the calendar above.

May the run continue!  I certainly hope that you have been backing them.

28th December

A Couple of very nice winners over the Christmas period.  Prima Nocte won her 8th race and took her earnings to $250,000.  Wavelength won her 2nd race.  This time at Caulfield and looked very impressive winning by 3.5 lengths.  She obviously has plenty of ability and we may find a nice Black Type race for her in the coming months.

Five wins in December.  I hope that you have been backing them.

20th December

We won our 4th race in a month with Rough Night saluting at Pakenham on Monday.  He jumped well and led all the way in a 2400m race. That was his second win on end.

Merry Christmas to all and may the new year bring us plenty of winners.

14th December

Desert Lad won first up at Kembla last Saturday.  He is bred to stay and looks like a stayer but has now won two 1000m races.  Time will tell if he stays as everything suggests he should.  He was most impressive.  Plenty of runners coming up - keep an eye on the calendar.  We have some lovely young horses stepping out in the coming weeks.

Rod and his wife Kristen had another son last Friday - Louis Dominic Peacock.  He was 9lb 3 oz  (too big to be a jockey)  He is a very healthy boy with a great set of lungs - this isn't a good thing at 2am.  Updates may be a little scarce over the coming weeks as Rod will be away.

4th December

Great win by Rough Night at Yarra Valley on Saturday.  He has been racing consistently of late and deserved the win, as did his owners.

Prima Nocte ran another good race to finish 4th at Randwick on Saturday.  She looked like she might run over the top of them at the 200m but couldnt catch the leaders, going down by around 1.5 lengths.

We have a big day at Ballarat on Thursday with Kings Canyon racing and King Tethra making his debut for Hancox Racing No. 1.  I look forward to meeting plenty of owners there on the day.

Happy Punting.

23rd November

Fraar Venture had his Maiden victory today.  He is a big slow maturing fellow and his owners are starting to reap the rewards of their patience.  He has run two terrific races this prep. and we should have some fun with him over the coming months.

17th November

Shelley has been away for a month and has just returned.  This will take a load of me (Rod) and I should be able to keep the website more up to date.

We had our Victorian raceday function at Geelong on Saturday 11th November.  It was a terrific day and the 550 + who attended seemed to really enjoy the event.  The weather was good, the food delicious (and plentiful) and  the punters club even managed to double their money. We paraded the 5 Hancox Racing No 2 horses (above).     Nb.  I still have a few shares to sell.  Ring if you are interested (03) 5274 9171
